Isaac Boone

Isaac Boone wishes he was playing with legos. He also plays soprano saxophone with masso.

masso is a Chicago-based saxophone quartet first formed at Northwestern University in the fall of 2021. While embracing the study and presentation of the classical repertoire, masso is equally committed to the commissioning, performance, and democratization of contemporary classical music.

As a young quartet, masso was awarded third prize in the 2022 North American Saxophone Alliance Quartet Competition, and beyond performing all over Northwestern’s campus, they’ve begun performing in concerts, public schools, local events, and fundraisers throughout the Chicago-land area.

masso aims to both develop and interact with culturally, socially relevant art to bring deeper value to our work as saxophonists. The quartet is now working to create direct collaborations with composers and audiences to connect more closely with our musical community—and artist communities at large.
