Anna Maberry

Anna Okada Burgess Maberry, 21, is a violinist, fiddler, and singer from Walla Walla, Washington. Anna began studying the violin in the Suzuki Method at the age of three.

Anna recently received her B.A. in music from Whitman College, where she studied with Dr. Susan Pickett. This fall, Anna will begin her studies with esteemed baroque violinist, Stanley Ritchie, at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University, in Bloomington, Indiana.

Anna has performed with the American High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Walla Walla Symphony, and served as concertmaster of the Whitman College orchestra for two years. After forming the Adastra Piano Trio with two other Whitman students in 2015, Anna has come to especially enjoy chamber music.

As one of Whitman College's Concerto-Aria Competition winners, Anna soloed with the Whitman College orchestra this winter, playing the third movement of Beethoven's Violin Concerto. Anna also performed Ernest Bloch's Baal Shem Suite as a soloist with the Walla Walla Symphony this May.

Aside from her classical interests, Anna is a devoted and accomplished Celtic fiddler. She and her father, Jesse Burgess, form a Celtic guitar and fiddle duo and have performed together extensively for over a decade. When Anna was fourteen, she recorded her first Celtic album, Spring in Brassica. Preparations are under way to record a second Celtic album.

In addition to her classical and Celtic music, Anna sings and plays the violin with her band, Wildwood Park, which released their debut album, A Beauty In Her Day, in October, 2015. A music video of their song, I Dreamed I Was A Big House, was released this February. This video and much more is available at www.wildwoodparkband.com.
