General Jonathan M. Wainwright is an American hero. Awarded the Medal of Honor in 1945 for exemplary service to his country and unwavering courage in the face of insurmountable odds, General Wainwright remains a symbol of all that is best in our nation. Tonight, the Festival honors General Wainwright and all service men and women with a special performance called Patriotic Pops at the VA to raise funds for veterans’ programs.
Featuring soprano, Jennifer Goltz; virtuosic violin and cello combo, DuoW; and the combined roster of Festival Artists, tonight’s performance is a celebration of American classics. Perhaps you are used to hearing such works performed by a large symphony orchestra or a military band. Both are surely impressive. But the more intimate format of chamber music has something to offer the pops experience, too. The musicians of Festival will stir your spirits and national pride with selections including Starts and Stripes Forever, Stephen Foster songs, America the Beautiful and much more.
Come celebrate our brave veterans and enjoy this evening of Patriotic Pops at Building 78 of the VA Medical Center that bears General Wainwright’s name. Proceeds from ticket sales will go toward programs for veterans at the VA Medical Center.
